Sensi.Fit is an innovative sports technology company that enhances athletic performance by adding real-time data and analytics to training sessions. Their solution offers automated drills and real-time metrics for instant feedback, operates across multiple sports and surfaces, and doesn’t require wearables, wi-fi, or Bluetooth connectivity.

Project Challenges

Sensi.Fit’s mission required a specialized hardware platform—a network of connected “pucks”—that could create and track metrics and provide highly accurate data analytics to augment coach’s training programs. The challenge Hellbender addressed was designing a low-power, extremely reliable hardware system that featured:

  • Accurate Timing: Employ a novel sensor approach to capture highly accurate timing for a variety of training drills.
  • Flexible Deployment: Create a device that could be deployed in many different configurations to support a wide variety of sports, drills, and environments
  • Accelerated Market Entry: Deliver a mature, reliable technology platform to allow Sensi. Fit to quickly pivot from development to market deployment.

Key Features

  • NIR ToF (Time-of-Flight) Sensors: Used to calculate highly accurate, real-time timing of athlete movements during drills.
  • LoRa: Low-power, long-range wireless mesh networking for reliable communication between pucks, eliminating reliance on Wi-Fi/Bluetooth and enabling many different configurations
  • Controllable LED & WiFi: Provides instant visual feedback and simplified system setup/data transfer for ease of use.
  • Battery Management: Ensures long operational life and reliability during extended use across long training sessions.
