PITTSBURGH, PA — Hellbender, the Pittsburgh-based robotics hardware innovator and manufacturer, announced today a strategic integration of Israeli startup Cyberbee’s high-performance localization technology into its flagship stereo camera system. This partnership brings a major leap in environmental awareness and autonomous navigation capabilities for mobile robotics platforms.
Hellbender’s stereo camera is known for delivering high-fidelity depth perception in compact, rugged form factors with unlocked on-edge AI capabilities in the camera. With the addition of Cyberbee’s state-of-the-art visual localization algorithm, the device now enables real-time, centimeter-level positioning—even in GPS-denied environments like warehouses, urban canyons, or underground facilities.
“This is a leap, not a step,” said Brian Beyer, CEO of Hellbender. “Cyberbee’s algorithm turns our stereo camera into a localization powerhouse. Our customers can now unlock autonomous functionality that previously required far more complex and expensive systems.”
Cyberbee, based in Israel, has developed proprietary localization software that leverages visual cues and SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) to deliver ultra-reliable position tracking. Originally designed for micro drones, its compact computational footprint and robust accuracy made it a natural fit for Hellbender’s tightly integrated vision system.
“We designed our tech to be agile and lightweight,” said Hagay Klein, CEO of Cyberbee. “Hellbender’s stereo camera is a beautiful piece of physical-AI engineering, and integrating our software into it means more robots will be able to localize with confidence—without the GPS crutch.”
Attendees can experience the integrated system firsthand at the Automate Show this May, where Hellbender and Cyberbee will showcase live demos of the stereo camera with embedded localization. Visitors are invited to see how the technology delivers real-time, GPS-free positioning with plug-and-play simplicity—ideal for autonomous robots operating in complex, dynamic environments. The collaboration between the two companies was catalyzed by 412×972 Pittsburgh–Israel Innovation, a cross-regional initiative connecting top-tier talent and technology from both ecosystems.
