What’s a Hellbender?
The Hellbender – cryptobranchus alleganiensis – is North America’s only giant salamander. It is native to the waterways in the hills of the eastern United States, and is the official state amphibian of Pennsylvania, where our company is headquartered. Hellbenders as a species are listed as near threatened; they live only in clean and flowing rocky streams, breathing through their skin. In this way, they are an indicator of unpolluted water.
